Lapland

The Brief

A Christmas exhibition spanning seven themed huts, each built around its own distinct interior world.

Working from the client’s initial design and technical drawings, we took on full delivery, from construction and procurement through logistics and on-site installation. That meant one-off themed builds, retail fit-outs and fully immersive festive environments, each finished to spec and installed ready for opening day in Lapland.

Our Approach

Each hut was treated as its own world, not a repeat of the last. The Post Office room centres on a bank of five hand-built brass-detailed sorting units, framed by floor-to-ceiling pigeonholes cut and finished in-house, with an antique oak counter as the anchor piece. Every joint, stain and fitting was built to match the client’s technical drawings exactly, then dressed with parcels, vintage stationery and props to make the space feel lived-in rather than staged.

THE OUTCOME

The result was a Christmas experience that felt complete from the moment guests stepped in, with visitors moving between rooms that read less like a temporary installation and more like spaces that had always been there. The project reinforced Visual Architects’ ability to take on full-scope delivery on a complex international build, managing design fidelity, procurement, logistics and on-site installation from a UK base to a remote Finnish location without compromise.
