Not all clowns are funny

The big top reimagined as a fever dream. Equal parts vintage carnival glamour and full psychological horror, a world where the music is too loud, the clowns are too real, and the exit is harder to find than the entrance.

Red and gold stripe tent canopies consume the ceiling. Oversized clown faces leer from every angle, sculpted, inflatable, painted, printed, unavoidable. Marquee bulb archways pull you deeper in. Freak show banner art lines the walls. Shredded bunting hangs like something got to it first.

The DJ booth is a carnival caravan. The dancefloor is the ring. You are the act.

ENTRANCE ARCHWAYS

Enter through a grand marquee bulb arch tunnel and walk through into the unknown. Or step directly into the mouth of a giant sculpted clown head archway, painted and menacing, so large it frames the entire entry point and swallows you whole.

CEILING DESIGN

Orange and black striped draping as the base, with giant inflatable monster claws reaching down from above, tentacles coiling across the ceiling, and skulls peering through the fabric.

A full big top canopy in distressed crimson and gold stripes, aged and weather-worn, hung with cascading multicoloured rag bunting, suspended clown faces.

HANGING ELEMENTS

Oversized circus balls in deep red, navy, and gold suspended at varying heights across the room. Swags of deep crimson draping between rigging points. Strings of carnival bunting in red, black, and gold zigzagging the full length of the space.  Hot air balloon gondola hanging from the rig. Large decorative fans and paper lanterns dotted between the bigger pieces to fill the gaps. Everything layered.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

In today’s event landscape a great photo opportunity isn’t a ‘nice to have’, it’s part of the experience. Guests remember how a space made them feel, and they share what made them look good. Our Freakshow backdrops are built with that in mind, from the carnival caravan backdrop, to the fully built circus sets, every piece is a frame waiting to happen.

FREAKSHOW CHARACTER DÉCOR

The characters are what make it. Life-size and larger, sculpted clown figures, faces, cracked and glowing emerging from a brick wall, eyes lit from within, mouth open. positioned throughout the space with the kind of detail that makes you look twice and wish you hadn’t.

STAGE DESIGN

A red and white striped circus tent facade frames the DJ booth, flanked by oversized dice, painted freakshow character boards, and a jester figure presiding over the whole setup. Or go grand ringmaster. A towering sculptural figure with arms outstretched commands the stage from above, surrounded by masked carnival characters and draped in deep red silk.
